Li'thi race

The Lithi were originaly a slave race created by a group of beings known as the Uralians. For eons the Lithi were used to maintain the Worldships of the Uralians, while they pusued their more cosmic interests. It is not known what happened to the Uralians, but one day the Lithi found their worldships empty of their masters, leaving themselves suddenly on their own. Since that time, the Lithi have devoted themselves to exploration, in the hopes of finding some clue as to the fate of their departed leaders. An ultimate reunification with the Uralians is a central idea of the Lithi, permeating all parts of their culture, with everything else looked upon as a transient, and of no great importance.

As they were engineered for obediance and efficiency, the Lithi are slow in developing innovative new technologies of their own. They excel, however, in assimilating the ideas and technologies of others, and in synthesizing them with others.
