Having once been a race of peaceful, innocent tribes, the Zarth had had no major need for weapons, especially ones used in the modern wars of the region. But that soon changed. During one of the Zarth's annual chieftain councils, a Re'lian magistrate landed and requested their help. He asked permission to use their planet as a launching point for their forces in their campaign against the Li'thi. The Zarth Council agreed, and soon had on their hands thousands of Re'lian troops, who needed the food and board that THEY must provide. Each day, there were many reports of rebel Zarth, protesting the Re'lian occupation, being beaten or killed on the spot. This lasted for a few weeks, until the Re'lians were pushed back, and eventually defeated, by the encroaching Li'thi armada, leaving the Zarth with heavily depleted resources and food. Soon after the Re'lian force had been defeated, the Li'thi invaded the Zarth homeworld, thinking it to be a supporting province of the Re'lu. The Zarth, fearing for another occupation like the previous one, decided to take matters into their own hands. The chieftains united, and armed their citizens with leftover weapons from the abandoned Re'lian barracks. As the Li'thi landed on the planet, there were armies of enraged Zarth there, to slaughter them as they emerged from their vessels. Over the years, the Zarth homeworld switched hands hundreds of times. The Zarth in turn became hardened and accustomed to war, and are suspicious of any other races they come across. They now hold their planet, and are seeking revenge against their oppressors, and will fight aggressively against any race or group opposed, in order to become the most powerful they can to reach that goal. |
